We asked Nicholas how he works with his clients to ensure #FutureFitGovernance?
This was Nicholas's response...
Good governance for me is about establishing and maintaining systems and processes which allow things to happen but at the same time contain checks and balances so that a company has assurance at any one time that everyone knows where they stand and what part they play in the running of the entity. I have been involved in assisting organisations achieve good governance, an example being at the Architectural Association where I help the organisation enhance its governance so as to enable its regulator to award it Taught Degree Awarding Powers, a key objective. I acted as project manager for the structural separation of Downside School and Abbey and most recently assisted Ve Global with a reorganisation of its overseas entities.
I enjoy the challenge of working with people, some of whom are enthusiastic about governance change, some who are hostile to anything new and others who observe what is going on with varying levels of interest and engagement. Ultimately any governance system relies on people to implement it so ensuring that as many people are brought along with changes is an important task.
